The Great Herdsman

"Buachaille Etive Mòr" - watercolour - 25 x 36 cm

This mountain stands at the entrance to Glencoe and at the head of Glen Etive. It looks out over the vast expanse of Rannoch Moor and dominates the view for miles. It is a well-known landmark to anyone travelling north on the road to Fort William. The name, Buachaille Etive Mòr, means "The Great Herdsman of Etive", and it has a sister peak called Buachaille Etive Beag, or "The Little Herdsman of Etive".

Good morning Keith!... Sorry for the lateness of my respnse on this one... I ve been up to my elbows in weeding and planting - now completed!

You have ably captured the monumental bleakness and serenity of this wild space with your solid composition and that interesting tactic using the ribbon of stream to draw the viewer's eye directly into the deeper space anto that minute bridge detail! Brilliant!

Put this one in the winner drawer for certain! Bravo!

Good Painting!
Warmest regards
Bruce

That is so beautiful, Keith. Apart from painting, it must be so wonderful wandering around in these amazing isolated areas.

Yes Diane we're lucky to have these areas, when the rest of Britain is getting over-populated.
